MABTR Family - Jennifer and Maurice in KS

Fostering has its challenges however giving a dog HOPE will give you amazing feelings you will not experience elsewhere.

Our family, Mauricio, Jenny, Gus and Max, have been volunteering with MABTR for 12 years.

We began by volunteering to transport a dog, which led to offering to babysit and dog that ended up with us offering to foster. Currently, we serve as foster parents.

Originally, we got involved with MABTR because we adopted and wanted to give back by helping with transports. We saw the joy in our girl, Bella, and wanted to give others that chance at love.

The greatest challenge working with an animal rescue is fostering a really timid dog and

building trust. It is not always easy and sometimes challenging. We keep volunteering and motivate ourselves by looking back at pictures and reading updates from adopters.

Our favorite part about volunteering for MABTR is seeing the change in the dogs when they realize they are safe. Keep in mind you are not without potty accidents - lots of conversations and stories around pee and poop.

We would tell anyone thinking about volunteering for a dog rescue is keep in mind the reward of giving a dog hope and finding its perfect family will give you amazing feelings you can't get elsewhere.
