Why does it cost so much to adopt a rescue dog?

It's a question we hear from time to time, and the answer is simple...
Our adoption fees don't cover what we spend—they only help offset a small portion of the medical care each Boston Terrier receives before finding their forever home.Â
Before a dog is ready for adoption, they may receive:• Veterinary exams• Spay or neuter surgery• Vaccinations• Microchip• Heartworm testing• Dental care• Bloodwork• Treatment for medical conditions• And sometimes expensive surgeries like palate or knee repairs.
Many of the Boston Terriers who come into rescue have never received routine veterinary care. Others need extensive medical treatment that costs hundreds—or even thousands—of dollars before they're healthy enough to be adopted.
While our average adoption fee is $370, the actual cost of preparing a dog for adoption is often much higher. The difference is made possible through generous donations, fundraising, volunteers, and foster families.
When you adopt from MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue, you're not just bringing home an amazing companion—you've already given that dog a second chance at a healthier, happier life.
Thank you to everyone who adopts, fosters, volunteers, donates, and shares our dogs. You make rescue possible.Â
