Fun Indoor Activities for You and Your Boston Terrier
When summer temperatures soar, it's important to remember that our Boston Terriers can overheat quickly. With their short noses, Bostons are especially sensitive to hot and humid weather, making indoor fun the safest choice on those scorching days.
Here are a few ways to keep your pup happy, active, and mentally engaged without stepping into the heat:
Treat Treasure Hunt – Hide a few treats around the house and let your dog sniff them out. It's a great way to exercise their brain!
Puzzle Toys & Frozen Goodies – Stuff a Kong with peanut butter (xylitol-free), canned pumpkin, or wet food and freeze it for a long-lasting treat.
Teach a New Trick – Spend 10-15 minutes practicing commands or teaching fun tricks like spin, shake, or roll over.
Indoor Obstacle Course – Use pillows, chairs, and blankets to create a simple course your pup can safely navigate.
Play Hide-and-Seek – Have someone hold your dog while you hide, then call them to find you. It's fun for both of you!
Snuggle Time – Sometimes the best activity is simply relaxing together with belly rubs and a favorite movie.
Remember, if it's too hot for you to be comfortable outside, it's probably too hot for your Boston Terrier too. Keep fresh water available, avoid the hottest parts of the day, and save walks for early morning or after the sun goes down.
A little creativity indoors can make for a fun day—and your Boston will love spending the time with you!
