MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue has seen an increase in scam alerts! Because of this, we wanted to help you identify the difference between MABTR or a reputable rescue and a scam.
Reputable rescues:
will not ask for a deposit
will require an online adoption application
will not communicate just via text and email
will require a phone interview before any commitment
A guide to questions to ask to ensure you are working with a reputable breeder if that is the route you take.
MABTR Facebook Imposters:
SCAM DOGS: It’s been identified that scammers are copying MABTR adoptable dogs and inventory posting them on 'multiple' Facebook pages for sale.
The scammers are providing false information about the dogs especially location, asking for deposits to hold dogs, and committing fraud.
IMPOSTERS SELLING MABTR MERCHANDISE: MABTR only sells our merch through our website, MABTR Etsy account, or at one of our live events. That's It. There are robo scammers that jump into our comment sections selling fake "MABTR" merchandise. We try to block them as fast as we can and as much as we can. But, please double check the source.
YES THEY ARE STEALING OUR LOGO AND IMAGES! So, again, please check you are on our website or etsy page when purchasing products. When in doubt, contact us!
Here are some general reminders that you are working directly with MABTR:
The only contact information for MABTR is Ph. 402-510-1346 and email is luckypawpal@aol.com OR midamericabostonrescue@gmail.com.
Our email newsletter and promotional emails come from the sender email address midamericabostonrescue@gmail.com. However, our website is hosted on WIX, so if you see "wix" with our email newsletter, that is correct and not scam/spam. The reply to email is always the same midamericabostonrescue@gmail.com.
Foster parents will contact only approved applicants from their personal phone numbers and will identify that they are an MABTR volunteer and what dog they wish to discuss.
No other phone number is shared on social media
MABTR social media pages are:
-Adoptaboston.com (website)
-MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue (Facebook)
-Adoptaboston (Instagram)
-Adoptaboston (X)
-AdoptABostonBoutique (Etsy)
MABTR will never ask for a deposit to “hold” a dog.
We are a foster-based organization with dogs located in multiple locations. MABTR’s process for adoptions begins with an approved application, a foster led phone interview with applicants, determination communicated, and then an adoption contract and fee collected.
If you come across a page that is posting about MABTR dogs and requesting payment:
