Luna's Second Chance with MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue

Luna was released from a puppy mill in April 2024 arriving in MABTR's care just weeks from delivering. She was pregnant so why would a breeder release her? Puppy sales have dropped greatly due to the increase in price for food and vet care plus people are back in the office so the breeders are feeling the lack of interest in people buying puppies. This is a good thing for rescues as we are seeing breeders down sizing and shutting down.

Luna is only 2.5 years old and this was not her first litter. She went into heat on a Saturday night and landed in the emergency room on Sunday morning after hours of labor and no puppies. Unfortunately she had to undergo an emergency c-section. both puppies lived however Luna's recovery was rough leaving her to stop producing milk. As a result they have been bottle fed since day two of birth.

MABTR's total medical bill for Luna's c-section and spay came to $2586 (which includes a discount). Her MABTR adoption fee is $400 which is based on age, not our investment in her care. The puppies will be adopted out with an adoption fee of $500 each which will cover half of her medical bill

MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue Second Chances for all of our boston terrier rescues are made possible by donations. Every dollar counts. Thank you to everyone who has donated. Support MABTR's rescue mission by donating here.
