Henry's Second chance with MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue

Updated: Sep 16

Henry was dropped off at a shelter by his owners at the age of 11 as he needed medical care they could not afford. Due to his condition the shelter immediately turned him over to MABTR. He had a perineal hernia and needed a dental. He received surgery as soon as we could transport him to Omaha, NE. He stayed a week at the vet. Unfortunately a second surgery was needed plus a dental. In the meantime we battled a urinary track infection.

A perineal hernia looks like a baseball on the dog's back end. It occurs when weak pelvic floor muscles allow part of an organ or tissue to push into your abdominal cavity. For Henry the root cause was colitis which was never addressed and all that he needed to prevent this was a diet change.

MABTR's total medical bill for Henry came to $2024 (which includes a discount). His MABTR adoption fee was $150 which is based on age, not our investment in medical care.
