Destiny's Second Chance with MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

MABTR alumni, Destiny born 5/11/2016 and retired from a breeder on 11/18/2021.

It was obvious that Destiny had multiple litters in her lifetime. Remember that dogs go into heat twice a year.

Many breeders will breed a female dog on her first heat cycle which is at the age of 7 to 9 months. We can estimate Destiny may have had around 8 litters of puppies. Female breeder dogs are not given the time to recoup or recovery between the time they wean their current litter to going into heat again.

When Destiny arrived her back two breasts hung so far down that when she squatted to pee her urine would wet her breasts. This would result in skin infections if not wiped after every visit outside. The decision to give her a breast reduction. She was first spayed and had a dental done. Once recovered she went back from her breast surgery. The grand total for her breast reduction, dental and spay was $640 (which includes a discount but not the cost of vaccinations and medication). Her adoption fee was $325.

She did great during her recovery and is now loving life in her new forever home in Iowa.
