Phoebe's Second Chance with MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue

Updated: Jan 17, 2023

MABTR alumni, Phoebe’s owner is disabled and came to find it was getting harder to care for her these days. At the age of 8 Phoebe came into foster care. We knew before her arrival she had eye issues however did not realize the severity. Both eyes diagnosed with glaucoma which have gone untreated. One eye no vision and as a result we decided to have it removed. Why keep and treat a non-functional organ. We have been able to keep the pressure normal on the remaining eye with daily eye drops. Her new family will need to make regular visits with the vet to ensure the drops continue to work but there may come a time they stop working and the eye will too need to be removed

Phoebe has shown her spirit and energy level now that the pressures in her eye is normal again. Just imagine walking around 24/7 with a migraine as that is how it feels with untreated glaucoma.

Medical bills came to $605. Her adoption fee only $150 which is strictly based on her age and that she is a mix, not our investment.
