Little Bit was retired from a breeder in 2023 at the age of three. Her family had her for one year struggling to potty train her so she was turned over to MABTR in early 2024. We diagnosed her with crystals in her bladder which more likely the root cause of her potty training challenge. We changed her over to Science Diet c/d.
A couple of weeks in our care she stopped eating and started to vomit. It started on a Friday so when Monday rolled around we were at the vet where x-rays were done to find she had an inguinal hernia. Unfortunately our Topeka vet had no time to do the surgery so we transported her to Kansas city where our vet was able to perform the emergency surgery that afternoon. She lost two inches of intestine and a second hernia repaired. Doc stated that she probably would not have made it another night without the surgery. Her medical bill came to $2728.
MABTR's total medical bill for Little Bit came to $3051 (which includes a discount). Her MABTR adoption fee was $325 which is based on age, not our investment in her care.
