Rediscover the joys of having a dog.

Our "Golden Paws for Golden Years" adoption program is all about rediscovering the joys of having a dog in your life. Over the years, companion animals have brought joy to our lives and warmth to our homes. Our "Golden Paws for Golden Years" program places adult dogs

(7 years of age or older) with qualified senior citizens who are 60 years of age or older providing a reduced adoption fee by $50.

Considering a new "best friend?"

Research has shown that companion animals help our physical health by decreasing heart rate and lowering blood pressure and helps improve our overall mental health.

Our " Golden Paws for Golden Years" program offers a special reduced adoption fee with $50 taken off any listed adoption fee to help seniors who are living on a fixed income. With each adoption your Boston will have been:

Ø      Neutered/spayed

Ø     Dental (if needed)

Ø      Microchiped

Ø      De-wormed

Ø      Up-to-date on shots (including Rabies/DHPP vaccinations)

Ø      Dressed with a harness and leash

Ø      Provided with Boston Terrier information materials

Making New Memories

Remember the family dog that greeted you as a child?  When you adopt an adult dog, you get to experience these joys again while making new memories with your furry companion.

We want to make sure you and your new dog are doing well, so after you take your new best friend home you will receive an Adoption Follow-Up call giving you a chance to tell us about your experiences and how your dog is settling into the home.  You may end up being our success story published in our monthly newsletter.

You can also call us at any time to talk over behavior problems or to get help as you and your dog gets to know each other.

And if you become unable to take care of your new dog, due to long-term hospitalization or stay in a nursing facility, you or a family member may return the animal to us.

People helping animals and animals helping people

Dogs provide friendship for lonely individuals, offering an opportunity for care taking and interaction that an older person may miss if family is not nearby.

The company of a beloved pet has been proven to reduce depression in the elderly, often delaying the onset of confusion and reducing the length of the average hospital stay.

To an older animal, a senior citizen that will dote on them and spend a significant amount of time allowing them to sit on their lap or lay at their feet, is an inviting and ideal new home.

Adult animals can make wonderful additions to the lives of seniors by offering gentle companionship, lower activity levels and previous training.

Adult animals often experience depression when they enter the animal shelter. Being adopted by a mature senior who understands their calm nature and need for companionship, is a perfect match for these senior dogs.
