Happy Tails Books Boston Terrier BookJack: “I was going through a tough divorce and some scary medical issues when my daughter, Audrey, asked me for a dog. We ended up with Jack, who turned out to be the ‘little man’ we needed in our lives. He often dons his ‘Sunday best’ (whatever Audrey stuffs him into) to attend her tea parties. She sits down and then he opens the door and prances in like a bunny; always eager to make her feel good with kisses and ‘conversation.’” –Nicole Valentine

*Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. My name is Freedom (aka Frieda). I am 5 years old and weigh 14 pounds. I need a new home because I was surrendered by a breeder. I am being fostered in Lee’s Summit, MO. I am an introvert – I like to spend time by myself exploring in the yard, napping snuggled up somewhere soft, or laying in your lap. I don’t much like kisses or socializing, but I am a perfect lady and know my manners. I am never rude – but I am not very self-confident yet. I am working on it, and my foster parents are trying to find my favorite treat to motivate me to be a little easier to approach. I run to the door with the other Bostons at the house every now and then, but I don’t really understand why they are doing it! I just get caught up in the excitement and then I calm right back down. Here's a little more about me: * I am housetrained, but sometimes I have accidents if you don’t take me outside the first thing when I get up in the morning. I also learned how to use a doggie door * I love to go on walks on a leash and ride in the car. * I get along fine with cats. I like other dogs, but am not interested in playing or toys yet. * I don’t like to eat or drink with company around, so give me some private time for eating, drinking, and toileting. * I am shy and have not been around children yet. * I am polite to strangers, but not confident when they approach me. I walk away unless you tell me to sit, hold your hand down, and pick me up. * I am very quiet, never bark, but I do snore loudly. * I prefer a home with no small children as I work on building confidence * I like to sleep on the foot of the bed, or on the couch on a blanket, or on your lap. (I really am laid back!) * I would do well in an apartment as long as you take me out to potty. I am quiet and a couch potato and love to snuggle. I am not good at climbing or jumping because I have short legs. I need to be carried on stairs or lifted on/off furniture or your lap. * I am crate trained, but would rather be out with you when you are home. Adoption Fee: $250.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Other medical needs diagnosed while in foster care are also treated prior to adoption. In these cases the leash law will be enforced. MABTR only adopts to families residing in NE, CO, MO, KS, IA, WY, SD, ND, ID, UT, MT, AR, and MN due to transport abilities. I need a new home because my family had a special needs child that would pick on the dogs so before anything happened we were dropped off at a local shelter. I am being fostered in Denver, CO. Don’t let my age fool you because I am spunky guy. I like short runs in the backyard and can really get on my hustle if I think you have treats. If you are my person, I will be a good watch dog for you. I bark at strange voices/noises in my neighbor’s backyard and will alert you if someone knocks on your door. At night, I am a cozy lap dog with you on the couch. I am really happy cuddling with you and letting you pet my belly. I like sleeping at the foot of your bed under the covers. I am a very smart little guy and I respond quickly when you call my name. I love water! *Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. My name is Sally. I am 5 years old and weigh 30 pounds. I need a new home because I was released from a puppy mill. I am being fostered in Westminster, CO. I am still very shy after spending my life in a cage. I am slowly learning how to be a pet but a lot of things are still very scary for me. I am terrified of kids and will run and hide if they come near me. I am very shy when meeting new people and dogs. I get along great with the dogs in my foster home and love to share their dog bed and cuddle. I can be a little growly when I first meet a new dog but that is just my fear and insecurity talking. Once I get to know them I must be with them all the time. I am not a playmate and toys are new to me and I am not sure what to do with them. I like to cuddle on the couch and bed but you have to help me up because I haven't learned to jump yet. A good home for me would be low activity, with someone who will be patient and help me learn and build confidence and most important, another dog that would let me cuddle. Starting to play with toys and chewing on stuff so we are making progress Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Working on it however with a doggie door I am potty trained Leash-trained? Forever home found!! Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is George, I am 8 years old but you wouldn’t guess it by my enthusiasm! I am 30lbs of muscle and quite a little hottie if I do say so myself. I was released from a puppy mill. I am being fostered in Littleton, CO. I am always thrilled to be around you and basically just excited in general. I love walks, I used to be all over on the leash but I’m getting better every day! I love to chase a ball or a toy and I respond great to voice commands, the ones I know anyway and I’m learning more each day. I am friendly with other dogs on the walks and at the park, what an exciting life!! After spending the first part of my life as a puppy mill dog you’d think I’d be a little more shy and reserved, but I am just happy happy happy! I like to sing and howl with my foster family when they get going. Other then that I am pretty quit, I don’t whine or bark or growl, I’m just happy go lucky~ I actually kind of bounce around when I first go outside, just so excited I can’t contain myself. I love to sit in water – a water bowl or a stream if I can find one~ I don’t sit in my water bowl anymore, unless its put outside for me to do so – it’s a tight fit, but I make it work I love to cuddle up next to you on the couch or in bed at night and I may snore occasionally but nobody cuddles better than me, I think it’s my calling in life In 8 years of being bred I made so many families happy with an adorable little puppy! I did my part to spread the Boston love, now it’s my turn to get a happy family and a home of my own, please let me show you how much love I have to give! Please give me a chance to love you. I am a sweet, energetic and loving little guy. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Getting better! I am still working on being house trained...though I have never had a “major accident” in the house, I still sometimes forget and lift my leg. My foster mom has a belly band on me and has trained me to be better, and now I run to the back door if I want outside. Leash-trained? Mostly Rides well in car? Yes Good with other dogs? Yes Good with cats? I am staying in a house with two cats and when I first got here I really wanted at them! But now I ignore them completely, they walk right by me now, no problem. Good with young children? Yes Good with strangers? Yes Shy or confident? Confident Barks? No Apartment qualified? Yes Any Special needs or Health Issues? none Adoption Fee: $200 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. I need a new home because I am a return back to MABTR due to my sapping when feared. I am working on this. I am being fostered in Platteville, CO. I am a playful guy who loves tug of war with my Mastiff housemate. I do best when there is one dog to play with, when there are two dogs I get jealous and nip at one, I don't bite just a growl and nip. I am always happy when mom comes home, so excited I sometimes piddle a little bit. Mom doesn't get upset because she knows I will grow out of this (I do it when I get nervous too). I need to be in a home with a high fence, like a privacy fence, I am a very good climber and could get into trouble or hurt if I get out. I LOVE visitors that come to my home but am very afraid of people I meet outside of my home environment. They just need to ignore a for a couple minutes until I go to them. if people do this I will have lots of love and kisses for them. I am fearful of household items like brooms, towels, hoses, rakes etc... I have nipped out of fear, I just need to be in a home that will understand that I need to meet people and dogs slowly. Forever home found!!! My name is Mika. I am a 2 year old Boston/Beagle mix and weigh 17 pounds. I need a new home because was purchased at a puppy mill auction. I am being fostered in Omaha, NE. I am a lover. I immediately warmed up to both my foster mom and foster (dog) brother. I’m still taking it easy though because I was just spayed and had one of my eyes removed. The kennel is not my favorite place to be, so I probably need to be in a home where someone would be around often or where I can have space outside of a kennel when you’re gone. Treats and belly rubs are my favorite things ever. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Working on it Leash-trained? no Rides well in car? Yes Good with other dogs? *Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Pearl. I am 11 years old and weigh 14 pounds. I need a new home because I was a stray. I am being fostered in Higginsville, MO. I am ….a sweet older lady. I love to snuggle in a blanket on the couch with you. I have to sleep in bed with you at night. I probably will get you up once or twice in the night to go outside. Sometimes I sleep all night without getting up at all. I have no accidents in the house if I'm taken out often. I will stay in a crate while you are gone, but need to be let out every 3-4 hours. Sometimes I do have accidents in the crate if left too long. My back legs are a little weak, so a one level house is what I need. I do surprise people when I go chasing birds in the yard. I like walks on a leash but they can't be for very long. I do tire out. I like playing with stuffed animals even though I have ripped one to pieces. I am a little food aggressive with other animals because as a stray I was nearly starved to death. I love to follow my foster mom everywhere. I'm very attached and don't like to share my area near her. I'm very protective if someone comes over to visit. I will bark and try to bite their feet. I do calm down and accept them if the energy is calm. As Pearl's foster mom, the best home for her is a low-active household. She would do best with no high energy children or grandkids. She is OK with my dogs as long as they aren't in her face and stay away from her food or treats. She would be fine as an only dog. She is very loving, but does need to be taken outside often. She has to sleep with you and not in a crate. She eats a low fat canned food, but will eat some dry food at times. If you think you could be the perfect home, please fill out an application for her.
