Happy Tails Books Boston Terrier BookJack: “I was going through a tough divorce and some scary medical issues when my daughter, Audrey, asked me for a dog. We ended up with Jack, who turned out to be the ‘little man’ we needed in our lives. He often dons his ‘Sunday best’ (whatever Audrey stuffs him into) to attend her tea parties. She sits down and then he opens the door and prances in like a bunny; always eager to make her feel good with kisses and ‘conversation.’” –Nicole Valentine

*Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. My name is Eugene. I am 5 years old and weigh 27 pounds. I need a new home because my owners could not afford my medical. I am being fostered in Omaha, NE. I am blind as I had to have my eyes removed. My eyes caused me great pain and I was almost blind anyway. After the surgery, for the first two weeks or so, my foster parents kept me on a leash inside and outside the house to help me learn the layout. Now I am doing very well finding my way around inside of the house. I have no trouble finding the food and water bowls. When it’s bedtime I make my way to the bedroom and get into the doggy bed beside the bed. Sometimes I cover myself with the blanket in my doggy bed. I have even taken myself out to potty and made it back in all by myself. I have even started wondering around the back yard on my own. Sometimes I may need a little help finding the deck stairs to come back in. All you have to do is call my name and not move. I will come straight to you. I have also followed the other dogs in the house going in and out by their scent. I am a very affectionate. I can easily find your lap, as soon as my foster father sits down, I am on his lap snuggling. My foster parents are amazed how well I am doing, they think I have radar. • Up-to-date with routine shots

*Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. My name is Lucy. I am 5 years old and weigh 25 pounds. I need a new home because I was released by a breeder. I am being fostered in St. Louis, MO. I am adjusting to my foster home and having humans around. I’ve lived in a concrete shelter all my life so humans are scary to me. I am a skittish so as long as you are up and moving I am too. Giving me a piece of cheese is the easiest way to get me to come to you. I will need forever home with someone who has time, patience, and lots of snuggles to give. Since I am skittish I would prefer a home where there are older children around as I do not like a lot of noise or children running after me. I am great with other dogs and I do like having them around. It isn’t required that I have a dog sibling but would be helpful in getting me adjusted to living inside. I follow the other dogs lead better than commands from my foster parents. As of right now I do have a daily supplement that needs to be applied to my food for skin care and weekly baths twice a week with medicated shampoo. I do have calluses on my buttock from sitting on the concrete for so long but further care is not needed for these. Just make sure I have a cozy place to sit and sleep. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? No Leash-trained? No Rides well in car? Working on it, fine in a crate Good with other dogs? Yes Good with cats? Not yet tested Good with young children? Older children only Good with strangers? No, runs away from everyone Shy or confident? Shy Barks? Only heard one time and that was when she was crated for the night in the other bedroom. Crated in our bedroom and does just fine Apartment qualified? Yes, but as I have separation issues it may be best to have some distance from neighbors. Any Special needs or Health Issues? I received a daily supplement on my dog food to help my skin to get back to normal. I also receive 2 baths a week for 4 more weeks to help my skin too. Adoption Fee: $250.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. However, I would benefit more with a new home where I can be the one getting most of the attention, not to say that I wouldn't mind to have a brother or a sister. I am very young at heart and am energetic. Don't let that fool you though, because I LOVE to cuddle, especially under the covers. I want to be around my foster mom at all times. I am 7.5 years old and weigh 15.25 pounds. I need a home with no other pets as I try to be alpha no matter their size and end up getting hurt. I am being fostered in Colorado Springs, CO. I'm a tiny guy with a big personality! I love being the center of attention around my humans, I am very loyal, energetic, love to cuddle and I'll let you know if someone is at the door. Even though I have a great personality and demeanor, I honestly don't really like sharing my house with my house mates. It's best I'm the only dog this way I can give you all the attention you need. Playing ball is one of my favorite things to do, oh and car rides too! If there is a dog on the other side of the fence that I can see I will bark and bark at them. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Yes, but cannot hold it for 8 hours Leash-trained? I walk okay on a leash, I like to take the lead. Rides well in car? I absolutely love car rides!! Especially when I get to sit on someone's lap! Good with other dogs? I'm not good with other dogs. Good with cats? Yes, I love playing with my kitty sister! Good with young children? Once I get to smell a guest I start to warm up and by the end of their visit, they'll have a new lap dog to pet. Shy or confident? I am very confident, maybe a little too big for my britches. Barks? I do love to bark! I am really good at letting you know if someone is outside the house, at the front door, and at other dogs. Apartment qualified? No, I have too much energy and need a yard to play ball. Any Special needs or Health Issues? I am a very healthy little guy!! *Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Jack. I am 8 years old and weigh 20 lbs. I need a new home because my owners stated I bit a child when not supervised so details are unknown on what actually happened. I am being fostered in Kansas City, MO. Just look at my big expressive eyes and handsome face! I am the sweetest and most polite little man, and I follow my foster parents everywhere. They love it when I give them kisses and wag my skinny little tail! It took me a while to come out of my shell in foster care. At first my foster parents thought I wasn’t good with some dogs, as I growled a little and wanted my space. But I just needed time to adjust to new surroundings, I get along great with my foster dog brothers and sister now that we know each other. I may never develop into a playmate, but I coexist very well and I don’t get caught up in any dog drama that happens around me. I will play with plush toys by myself and I’m showing a little interest in playing the longer I am with my foster family. I just don’t like it if the other dogs get too pushy. My foster parents are not certain of the circumstances when I reportedly bit a child in my former home, but I’ve never shown aggression in foster care and I am not a fighter. In fact, if I hear people arguing, I will seek out another room as it bothers me. My foster parents will be looking for a quiet household with no children or infrequent exposure to children. I’d be happiest in a low activity home with older folks and an older dog or two. You can find me snoozing at your feet, in bed with you, on your lap, or on the sofa, really anywhere you are. I LOVE to ask for belly rubs. I need a home with a fenced yard, as roaming my territory and being outside are among my favorite activities! I’ll thrive with a consistent routine, and with people who will be devoted to me and adore my sweet personality as much as my foster parents do. I’m really such a good boy, my foster parents can’t believe I haven’t been adopted yet! Am I the one for you? Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? I have had a few accidents but once I establish a routine I am all good Leash-trained? Yes. Rides well in car? Yes. Good with other dogs? After a while I like most dogs. Good with cats? not yet tested Good with young children? No please Good with strangers? yes Shy or confident? Confident. Barks? Yes. Apartment qualified? No as I will bark Any Special needs or Health Issues? None Adoption Fee: $200.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped.
