Happy Tails Books Boston Terrier BookJack: “I was going through a tough divorce and some scary medical issues when my daughter, Audrey, asked me for a dog. We ended up with Jack, who turned out to be the ‘little man’ we needed in our lives. He often dons his ‘Sunday best’ (whatever Audrey stuffs him into) to attend her tea parties. She sits down and then he opens the door and prances in like a bunny; always eager to make her feel good with kisses and ‘conversation.’” –Nicole Valentine

*Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. My name is Elwood. I am 3 years old and weigh 16 pounds. I was found as a stray. I am being fostered in St Louis, MO Both of my eyes have been removed leaving me blind, but I can actually get around very nicely. I do need a family that is patient with me until I familiarize myself with the new home. Once I know where everything is I may bump into things every once in awhile, but other than that, I'm good. I get along with everyone I meet. I love kids and I get along well with other dogs. I love to chew tennis balls and other toys. You have to keep an eye on me because I do love to find the squeakers in toys and attempt to eat them. I love to snuggle and if you give me a laundry basket with blankets to sleep in, I will be more than content for hours. I am learning how to walk down stairs. I can walk okay upstairs as long as my human keeps an eye on me. I know I would be a great addition to your family if you give me a chance. Some additional notes about me: House trained? I am mostly potty trained. I have not had any accidents in my foster parents' home and I know what going outside to potty means. Leash trained? yes Crate trained? yes Rides well in car? yes Good with other dogs? yes Good with cats? not yet tested Good with young children? yes Good with strangers? yes Shy or confident? confident Barks? no Apartment qualified? yes if main level Any Special needs or Health Issues? I was treated for heartworm so I am required to be on heartworm preventative every month for the rest of my life. Adoption Fee: $275.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Forever home found My name is Buster. I am 6 years old and weigh 18 pounds. I need a new home because I was picked up by the local shelter as a stray. Unfortunately, not the first time but this time my family did not claim me. I am being fostered in Colorado Springs, CO. I am an unusual lovable pirate, who loves to cuddle. Only having one eye isn’t holding me back, but I am still adjusting. I love head banging with my toys and whipping them around, I also love rolling them down the stairs and chasing after them, but squeaker toys are my favorite! I know my basic commands such as sit and stay. I am learning crate training. I have separation anxiety and will cry myself to sleep. I think a thunder shirt would help me adjust (currently undergoing testing). I would do best being an only dog. I am not really good at sharing and I tend to be aggressive when startled if you come up on me from behind or on my bad side. I will thrive in a home where I get all the love and attention I deserve. I would also do best with a family who is home a lot as I hate being left along. My new family will need to have access to an eye doctor of which my one only eye will need to be checked every 6 months to ensure pressures continue to be steady. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Yes Leash-trained? Yes Rides well in car? Yes Good with other dogs? I would do best as an only dog! I tend to pick and choose who I like and am not really good at sharing. Good with cats? Not yet tested Good with young children? NO Good with strangers? Yes Shy or confident? Confident Barks? Sometimes Apartment qualified? No Any Special needs or Health Issues? Left eye removed due to injury leading to glaucoma. Right eye will be treated with Timolol due to the genetic predisposition to develop glaucoma. Est cost forthe drops is $20 per month, Currently my Right eye has normal pressure and no signs of glaucoma. Adoption fee? $250.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Forever home found!!! Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Tudor. I am a 7-year-old Boston MIX that weighs 26 pounds. I need a new home because my owner could no longer take care of me. I am being fostered in Parker, CO I have been at my foster home for a while so my mom feels it is important to update my profile. When I first came to this new home, I was scared and would whine and bark a lot. Now that I’m settled, life is good. I love, love, love the humans. I like being part of a pack but would also do well if I was an only dog. I like having all the attention. I will bark for a while when left alone so I wouldn’t do well in an apartment. Your lap, under the covers, long walks, and playing ball are my favorite things. I am very responsive when you call my name, so I would benefit not having you change my name. Tudor has come a long way at our house and is doing great. He is a fun dog with a great personality. We love when we pet him and he talks. He’s our little Scooby Doo. *Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Jack. I am 8 years old and weigh 20 lbs. I need a new home because my owners stated I bit a child when not supervised so details are unknown on what actually happened. I am being fostered in Kansas City, MO. Just look at my big expressive eyes and handsome face! I am the sweetest and most polite little man, and I follow my foster parents everywhere. They love it when I give them kisses and wag my skinny little tail! It took me a while to come out of my shell in foster care. At first my foster parents thought I wasn’t good with some dogs, as I growled a little and wanted my space. But I just needed time to adjust to new surroundings, I get along great with my foster dog brothers and sister now that we know each other. I may never develop into a playmate, but I coexist very well and I don’t get caught up in any dog drama that happens around me. I will play with plush toys by myself and I’m showing a little interest in playing the longer I am with my foster family. I just don’t like it if the other dogs get too pushy. My foster parents are not certain of the circumstances when I reportedly bit a child in my former home, but I’ve never shown aggression in foster care and I am not a fighter. In fact, if I hear people arguing, I will seek out another room as it bothers me. My foster parents will be looking for a quiet household with no children or infrequent exposure to children. I’d be happiest in a low activity home with older folks and an older dog or two. You can find me snoozing at your feet, in bed with you, on your lap, or on the sofa, really anywhere you are. I LOVE to ask for belly rubs. I need a home with a fenced yard, as roaming my territory and being outside are among my favorite activities! I’ll thrive with a consistent routine, and with people who will be devoted to me and adore my sweet personality as much as my foster parents do. I’m really such a good boy, my foster parents can’t believe I haven’t been adopted yet! Am I the one for you? Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? I have had a few accidents but once I establish a routine I am all good Leash-trained? Yes. Rides well in car? Yes. Good with other dogs? After a while I like most dogs. Good with cats? not yet tested Good with young children? No please Good with strangers? yes Shy or confident? Confident. Barks? Yes. Apartment qualified? No as I will bark Any Special needs or Health Issues? None Adoption Fee: $200.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped.
