Happy Tails Books Boston Terrier BookJack: “I was going through a tough divorce and some scary medical issues when my daughter, Audrey, asked me for a dog. We ended up with Jack, who turned out to be the ‘little man’ we needed in our lives. He often dons his ‘Sunday best’ (whatever Audrey stuffs him into) to attend her tea parties. She sits down and then he opens the door and prances in like a bunny; always eager to make her feel good with kisses and ‘conversation.’” –Nicole Valentine

Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Tyler. I am 9 years old and weigh 22 pounds. I need a new home because my last owner became ill and could no longer take care of me.. I am being fostered in Superior, Colorado. I am a clown-like, loving cuddle bug. I have huge eyes and a puggy, smushed face. This makes me snort and snuffle all the time, which gives me pig-like qualities and makes people laugh. I am extremely shy and nervous when I first meet new people but once I get to know you, I will never leave your side! I like short walks but mostly I love to sit next to you on the couch, sleep with you and eat treats. I get along great with my foster dog siblings but I am not as much interested in them as I am in people. I bond closely with the human members of my family and I will stay with you and be a loving companion to you. I like belly rubs, scratches and other displays of affection. I am afraid of loud noises (fireworks, thunder) and so I am best in a quiet household with people who are calm and consistent. I do not give kisses but I accept them with dignity. I will crawl on your lap and cuddle with you all night long. I snore quite loudly so light sleepers need not apply! Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Yes Leash-trained? Yes Rides well in car? Yes Good with other dogs? Yes Good with cats? NO Good with young children? No as I need a low active household Good with strangers? Yes Shy or confident? Shy at first Barks? Forever home found!!! Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Butch. I am 9 years old and weigh 20 pounds. I need a new home because my owners moved and could not take me with. I am being fostered in Sioux Falls, SD. I am a really great example of “America’s Gentleman”. I’m a bit shy right now since I left my longtime family. Foster mom says I have a sweet, gentle, docile nature. My plan for a nice day would be to get out of my doggie (or people) bed, sniff around the yard and do my business, then come in for a meal and a nap in the sun. I don’t like toys. I would rather watch TV with you or snuggle and dream. I think I will enjoy the yard more when it is not a mudhole. My Boston brothers are fine, but I do not like the big bulldog. A face like that would scare the bravest of Bostons! I got a little snarky with her yesterday. Just told her to leave me alone. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? yes Leash-trained? yes Rides well in car?yes Good with other dogs? no big dogs please Good with cats? Not yet tested Good with young children? yes Good with strangers? yes Shy or confident? Kind of shy Barks? I need a new home because my owner surrendered me stating I was grumpy being in a busy household. I am being fostered in Wichita, KS. I am a very sweet, loving little girl. I love sunbaths, back rubs, baths and cuddles. I am house trained and sleep in my own bed at night and I burrow when I'm cold. I am not used to being kenneled and I'm not fond of it. My foster mom leaves me out in the bedroom with a baby gate keeping me separated from the other dogs so they don't bother me and I do just fine. I do not do well around young children and active dogs as they startle me and scare me. I am a spunky little girl who enjoys exploring the yard, riding in the car and going on short walks. I love to play with my rope bone and love to give it a good, old fashioned shaking several times a day. I am excited to see mom every day when she gets home and picks me up. I wiggle and kiss her then head outside to do my thing before supper. I do bark and give mom a good talking to if she doesn't let me in when I'm ready! I have lots of love to give to the right person or family. Could you be my furever family?? Some additional notes about me: House trained? Yes Leash trained? Yes Crate trained? No Rides well in car? Forever home found!!! Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Steve. I am 10 years old and weigh 14 pounds (working on adding more pounds). I need a new home because I was found as a stray. I am being fostered in Aurora, CO. I am very curious and active boy, I love to cuddle and give kisses. I love to follow my foster parents around the house to see anything new they are doing. I like to snuggle and sleep under the covers with them also. It is awesome to go for walks and am very polite on a leash. I really like to be by my people so I would love to find a family that can spend as much time with me as possible. I am very quiet and rarely bark, I can be vocal when put in a kennel, but that is just because I want to be with my people. I am a fast learner. I know how to sit; and learned how to use a dog door in just a couple of days. I have learned how to walk up stairs but still working on how to walk down stairs comfortably. But I show improvement every day. I am very docile at bath time and will tolerate my ears being cleaned quite well. I don't really know how to play with toys or other dogs but I like watching my foster brother and sisters, I think that I am picking it up. I will snuggle and sleep right next to them when it is time for relaxing. I am very enthusiastic to eat but I never growl if someone approaches me. But, no big hard treats, I don't have a lot of teeth left. I was skinny when I was found and I'm gaining weight, I should still gain a few more pounds to be in good shape. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? Yes, About 95% Leash-trained? Yes Rides well in car? Yes Good with other dogs? Yes Good with cats? Yes Good with young children? have yet to be around any Good with strangers? Yes Shy or confident? Confident Barks? Rarely, my foster mom has never heard me bark outside of being put in a crate. Apartment qualified? Yes, but I may bark when left in the crate occasionally. Any Special needs or Health Issues? Not many teeth. I do take a pill everyday for a heart murmur. I am also working on weight gain Adoption Fee: $150.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Forever home found!!! Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Kramer. I am 10 years old and weigh 21 pounds. I need a new home because my mom was not able to take care of me anymore. I am being fostered in Englewood, CO. I am a sweet boy that would love to sit next to you and be best buds. I prefer a quiet house with one other dog sibling to follow around and hang out with. I am man's best friend as I prefer humans over everything else. I like to snuggle in bed, if you let me. But if my snoring keeps you awake I do well in my crate or in an other room. I like walks and ride well in cars. I prefer if you approach me slowly and let me sniff you first before you pet me, as I am learning my confidence. I like older kids, rather than young. I like toys, but really like things to chew and to be at your side. It helps me to have outdoor access to go potty, I'm trying real hard to not have accidents in the house. Please be patient with me, my foster parents are working with me on it. When I go to the dog park I typically like to walk and sniff around. I can get a bit jealous of my foster siblings, but once I'm comfortable in my new home, I'll be really happy. Here's a little more about me: Housetrained? A dog door helps, but occasional accidents. Leash-trained? Yes Rides well in car? Yes Good with other dogs? Yes, but I am not a playmate. I would do just fine as an only dog as I prefer to just hang out with the humans. Good with cats? Yes, I leave them alone Good with young children? I prefer older kids, because I might bark at rambunctious kids. Good with strangers? Yes, but I am finding my confidence and prefer a slow approach. Shy or confident? A little shy Barks? Yes, but if you tell me to hush, I quiet down. Apartment qualified? Yes Any Special needs or Health Issues? I have a heart murmur that I take a pill every day for. Avg cost per month is $10. I am also required to be on a special diet as the result of crystals that form in my bladder. I take Royal Canine SO dry. Adoption Fee: $150.00 All our dogs are spayed/neutered (if six months and older), up to date on rabies and distemper, heartworm tested, and microchipped. *Adoption Process starts with an Online Adoption Application you can find at www.adoptaboston.com. Eligible for the Golden Paws Program (adoptors 60 yrs and older adopting a dog 7 yrs and older get $50 off the adoption fee noted below) My name is Beetle. I am 11.5 years old and weigh 25 pounds. I need a new home because I was picked up as a stray, not the first time, and unfortunately my family decided not to bail me out this time. I am being fostered in Westminster, CO. I am a very loving girl. I enjoy, cuddles, belly rubs and giving kisses. I am very quiet and laid back. I don't need a big yard or long walks. Leashes scare me a bit, maybe because I was picked up by animal control several times but I do enjoy short walks. If given the opportunity I will run out the door or open gate. My foster parents are always aware of where I am when door or gates are being opened and I listen well when told to get back. I do not ever try to escape the yard. I am terrified of stairs. I have no problem with 2 or 3 steps but I will not go up or down long flights. I have the onset of cataracts due to my age which may be the reason for my fear of stairs. I see pretty well otherwise. I am housebroken, use the dog door, will potty on a leash and on command. I am good with the other dogs in the house but I have no desire to be a playmate or cuddle buddy with them. I prefer to ignore them most of the time. I have lived with cats and I like them fine. I get anxious in the car and will just lay down and pant. I would do well in an apartment but only if it is on the ground floor with minimal steps. I may be an older gal but I have a lot of love to give. If you are looking for a low activity, lover and cuddler maybe I am the gal for you. Some additional notes about me: House trained? yes Leash trained? do not like Crate trained? yes Rides well in car?
